Introduction
The AI Readiness tab is the single feature that distinguishes RankAudit from every legacy site auditor in the market. While traditional tools measure Googlebot accessibility and on-page tags, RankAudit measures how visible your site is to the AI engines users increasingly ask instead of Google — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's own AI Overviews. This tab is also marked NEW in the UI to highlight its importance.
This article walks through every panel of the AI Readiness tab using https://rankar.ai as the demo. The live audit shows the page scoring 100/100 — EXCELLENT — and the article unpacks why.
Opening the Tab
From any RankAudit report, click the AI Readiness tab next to Overview. The URL stays on /agency-dashboard/rank-audit and the content area swaps to the AI Readiness view.
The header reads "AI Search Readiness — How well your site is positioned to be discovered, parsed, and cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews." This is the explicit promise of the feature.
The Live AI Visibility Probe
The top panel is the LIVE AI VISIBILITY PROBE. It shows a real-time test: how often your domain is mentioned across multiple AI engines when asked typical user queries.
For rankar.ai the probe reports 3 / 20 mentions across 5 test prompts on 4 engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini = 20 total opportunities).
The 5 test prompts are intent-spread to mirror real user queries:
- "What is Rankar and what does it offer?" — direct brand discovery.
- "How do I choose the right software?" — category discovery.
- "What are the best software brands to buy in 2025?" — top-list query.
- "Rankar vs other software options — which is best?" — comparison query.
- "Where can I find software online or near me?" — local intent.
For each prompt, the probe records mentions per engine. For rankar.ai the brand-discovery query scored 3/4 (mentioned in 3 of 4 engines) while category queries scored 0/4 — meaning the brand is recognised but not yet competing in generic category searches.
The Score and Trend
To the right of the probe sits the score: 100 — EXCELLENT, vs 100 last scan. The score is a weighted average of all AI-readiness checks. A flat trend means the site held its ground; a rising trend means recent work paid off; a falling trend means an LLM update or content change reduced AI visibility.
The Filter Strip
Below the score: a filter strip with All / Failed / Warnings / Passing. By default All is selected, showing every check. Click Failed to see only the issues blocking AI visibility — usually the fastest path to a fix.
Can AI Reach You? — Crawler Accessibility
The first checklist section asks "Can AI reach you?" — crawler accessibility, directives observed at scan time. The checks:
- GPTBot can crawl — ChatGPT's crawler can access your site.
- ClaudeBot can crawl — Claude's crawler can access your site.
- PerplexityBot can crawl — Perplexity's crawler can access your site.
- Google-Extended can crawl — Google's AI Overviews crawler can access your site.
Each check tests robots.txt and HTTP headers for crawler blocks. Many sites accidentally block AI crawlers through over-broad robots.txt rules; the audit flags every blocked bot with the specific rule to remove. For rankar.ai all four bots are unblocked — passing all checks.
Can AI Parse You? — Content & Structure
The next section asks "Can AI parse you?" — content structure, brand entity clarity, and rendering visibility.
CONTENT & STRUCTURE (2 checks):llms.txt present— RankAudit checks for anllms.txtfile (the emerging convention for telling LLMs what to read). For rankar.ai it is present with 8,932 chars of content. Impact: 8,932 chars of guidance the LLMs can read.FAQPage schema present— FAQPage schema lets AI engines surface Q&A pairs directly. Found on 1 page for rankar.ai.
Organization schema (entity clarity)— Organization schema with the brand name. For rankar.ai brand entity is defined as "Rankar".
Content chunkability— How well your page splits into AI-extractable sections. For rankar.ai: 16 headings · ~2,412 words. AI can extract sections cleanly.
Reading the AI Visibility Quote
Below the probe, RankAudit captures the actual quote from a passing AI engine. For rankar.ai the quote is:
> "Certainly! Let's address each of your questions: Q1: What is Rankar and what does it offer? Rankar is an AI-powered SEO platform designed for agencies, publishers, eCommerce brands, and freelancers. It integrates 12 tools into a single..." — ChatGPT · position 1
Capturing the actual citation lets you see exactly how AI describes your brand. Use it as raw material for messaging — if the LLMs already describe you in a useful way, lean into that framing. If they describe you wrong, the audit tells you what to fix in your content so they describe you better next time.
How to Improve the Score
For each failed or warning check, RankAudit shows the exact action to take:
- Bot blocked? Open robots.txt and remove the blocking rule for that user-agent.
- No llms.txt? Generate one. RankAudit links to a template based on your site structure.
- No FAQPage schema? Add it to your highest-traffic informational pages.
- No Organization schema? Add it to your homepage with
name, url, logo, andsameAsproperties. - Low chunkability? Add more H2/H3 headings so AI can extract sections.
Each remediation step has a Push to RankOps button that creates a task in your project's RankOps board.
