Introduction

The Speed tab is RankAudit's deep performance analysis layer. While Performance uses CrUX field data, Speed runs synthetic Lighthouse audits that work even for low-traffic sites and let you benchmark directly against named competitors. This article walks through the Speed workflow on rankar.ai.

The Layout

Top of the tab: a description — "Full Lighthouse + Chrome UX Report data — Core Web Vitals, opportunities, diagnostics, accessibility / SEO / best-practice audits, and a side-by-side comparison with up to two competitors."

Below: three URL input slots. The first (YOUR URL) is pre-populated with your audited domain. Slots 2 and 3 (COMPETITOR 1, COMPETITOR 2) accept any domain. A Mobile/Desktop toggle and an Analyze button complete the form.

Setting Up a Comparison

To benchmark rankar.ai against semrush.com and ahrefs.com on mobile:

Confirm YOUR URL shows https://rankar.ai/.
Click the × next to the empty Competitor 1 slot to add a domain.
Enter semrush.com. Repeat for Competitor 2 with ahrefs.com.
Toggle Mobile.
Click Analyze.

Lighthouse runs three audits in parallel (one per URL). Results appear side-by-side once all three complete.

Reading the Side-by-Side Results

Each URL gets its own column showing:

Performance score (0-100).
LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TBT, Speed Index.
Top opportunities (e.g., "Eliminate render-blocking resources — save 1.4s").
Diagnostics (e.g., "Avoid enormous network payloads").
Accessibility, SEO, Best Practices secondary scores.

The visual difference makes it immediately clear where you lead and where you lag. Use the lagging metrics as your sprint backlog.

Mobile vs Desktop Strategy

Mobile is the priority because Google indexes mobile-first. Run Mobile first; address the worst three metrics; then check Desktop to make sure nothing degraded.
