Why it's not just another chat app
Generic chat tools leave SEO context behind — a message about a ranking drop doesn't know it's about a ranking drop. RankTalk's slash commands and RankOps integration mean a message can carry a real task, a keyword or an audit finding with it.
This matters for agencies where the same conversation often needs to become a billable, trackable piece of work rather than disappearing into scrollback.
The layout
The left sidebar lists Channels, Direct Messages and pinned items. The centre pane is the active conversation. The right rail, when open, shows thread replies or a linked task/file preview.
Internal vs client use
RankTalk supports both internal team channels and client-facing guest channels in the same workspace, with permissions controlling exactly what a guest can see, which is covered in its own guide later in this course.
Key takeaways
- Use RankTalk when a conversation should become trackable work
- Learn the sidebar layout: Channels, DMs, pinned items
- Remember internal and client channels share a workspace but not permissions
