Incoming orders queue
Stage 2
Accepting and setting expectations
Stage 3
Marking delivery
Incoming orders queue
New orders land in the Incoming tab with the buyer's brief, anchor, target URL and offered price visible before you accept. You can decline with a reason if the brief doesn't fit your site's editorial guidelines.
Accepting and setting expectations
Accepting an order starts the delivery countdown shown on the order card, based on the turnaround time listed on your site profile. If you need more time on a specific order, request an extension from the order detail rather than letting it run late silently.
- Accept or decline with a reason from the Incoming tab
- Delivery countdown starts on acceptance
- Request an extension from the order detail if needed
Marking delivery
Once the post is live, use Mark Delivered and paste the live URL. This starts the buyer's review window and moves the order into your Delivered column, where it sits until the buyer approves or raises an issue.
Payouts
Approved orders move funds into your Publisher Balance, visible on the Earnings tab, from where you can request a payout to your linked bank or PayPal account once the balance clears the minimum threshold shown on that page.
Why this matters
Incorrectly managing order placements and failing to understand the escrow mechanism can directly impact your site's perceived reliability and, consequently, its long-term SEO value. If orders are consistently initiated with insufficient funds or without proper clarification, it leads to cancelled orders, frustrated buyers, and a negative transaction history. This signals to the RankLinks platform that your site may not be a reliable partner, potentially affecting your visibility and ranking within the marketplace for future, more valuable link opportunities. Consistent, smooth transactions are foundational to attracting and retaining high-quality link buyers, which are crucial for sustained growth.
Consider a scenario where a high-authority buyer attempts to place an order for a premium placement on your site. If the order is delayed, declined due to escrow issues, or if the initial fund allocation is mismanaged, that buyer is likely to look elsewhere. This doesn't just mean a lost immediate sale; it means losing out on a potential long-term relationship with a buyer who could consistently bring valuable, relevant link placements. Over time, a pattern of failed or problematic transactions can reduce your site's overall appeal within the RankLinks ecosystem, limiting its exposure to top-tier campaigns and ultimately hindering its ability to acquire new, relevant backlinks itself via the platform's reputation.
Understanding Escrow and Order Status Changes
The RankLinks escrow system acts as a protective buffer for both buyers and publishers, ensuring that funds are held securely until the work is completed and approved. When a buyer places an order, the agreed funds are immediately debited from their account and placed into escrow. From your perspective as a publisher, this means that once an order is visible in your 'Incoming Orders' queue with a 'Funds in Escrow' status, the budget for that specific placement is guaranteed. You can proceed with confidence, knowing the payment is secured and will be released upon successful delivery and buyer approval.
Crucially, the 'Funds in Escrow' status protects you from undertaking work without guaranteed payment. If an order appears without this confirmation, or if a buyer attempts to 'place' an order without sufficient funds, the system will prevent it from progressing to a stage where you would initiate work. Always verify this status before committing resources. If a buyer needs to add more funds, the order status will reflect this, and you should only accept once the escrow is fully funded and confirmed. This diligence prevents wasted effort and ensures your work is always compensated.
- Funds are secured in escrow *before* you see an actionable order.
- Verify 'Funds in Escrow' status before beginning work.
- Unfunded orders will not reach your 'Incoming Orders' queue as actionable.
- Escrow release is contingent on buyer approval or auto-release timeline.
Do it now
Familiarise yourself with the 'Incoming Orders' interface in the Publisher Dashboard, specifically noting the status indicators for funding. While no funds will be in escrow for orders you haven't yet received, you can simulate an understanding by reviewing any previously completed orders in your 'History' tab. Observe how their status progressed from 'Funds in Escrow' through to 'Payment Released', reinforcing the escrow lifecycle.
- Log into your RankLinks Publisher Dashboard.
- Navigate to the 'History' section.
- Review a successfully completed order.
- Identify the 'Funds in Escrow' and 'Payment Released' status changes.
