Stage 1

Stage 3
Step 3
Step 1: Order details
The first screen asks for target URL, anchor text and topic. There's a dropdown for anchor type — exact match, partial match, branded or naked URL — which matters for keeping a natural-looking link profile across a campaign.
A notes field beneath lets you add context the publisher should know, such as competitor pages to avoid replicating or a specific angle for the article.
- Target URL — the page you want linked to
- Anchor text and anchor type dropdown
- Topic/angle notes for the publisher
Step 2: Content
Choose between 'I'll provide content', 'RankWriter generates it' or 'Publisher writes it'. Each option changes the price shown in the summary panel on the right, updating live as you toggle.
If you choose RankWriter generation, a mini brief form appears inline so you don't have to leave the wizard to set word count and tone before continuing.
Step 3: Review and pay
The final screen summarises everything — site, price, anchor, content option and estimated turnaround — with an editable field for each in case something needs a last-minute change.
Payment goes through RankLinks' escrow rather than direct to the publisher; funds are held until delivery is confirmed, which the next chapter covers in detail.
After submitting
Once paid, the order appears immediately in your Buyer Dashboard with a status of Awaiting Acceptance, and you'll get a notification the moment the publisher accepts or declines.
Why this matters
Failing to adequately browse and judge publisher sites before committing to an order can lead to significant budgetary waste and negligible SEO impact. If you select sites with low organic traffic, irrelevant audiences, or those that frequently publish low-quality, sales-oriented content, any links placed will likely be devalued by search engines. This results in expenditure on placements that do not pass meaningful authority or referral traffic, directly hindering your link-building ROI and potentially exposing your backlink profile to unnecessary risk.
Conversely, diligently evaluating publisher sites for their authority, audience relevance, and content quality before using the order wizard ensures that every link acquisition contributes positively to your SEO objectives. A well-placed link on a high-authority, topically relevant site can drive targeted referral traffic, enhance organic visibility for key terms, and demonstrably improve your domain's overall search engine standing. This meticulous approach transforms link building from a speculative activity into a predictable, high-impact growth driver, maximising your budget's effectiveness.
Prioritising Publisher Metrics for Impact
When assessing potential publisher sites within the RankLinks marketplace, prioritise a holistic view of their SEO metrics rather than relying on a single data point. A high Domain Authority (DA) or Domain Rating (DR) alone is insufficient; these can be inflated or misleading. Instead, focus on metrics that indicate genuine organic performance and audience engagement. This includes the site's estimated organic traffic, the quality and relevance of its top-ranking keywords, and its historical traffic trends. A site with consistent, growing organic traffic in your niche signals genuine search engine favour.
Furthermore, critically evaluate the site's content quality and publishing frequency. A site that consistently produces well-researched, evergreen content relevant to its audience is a strong candidate. Avoid sites that exclusively publish guest posts, press releases, or content that appears to be AI-generated without human oversight. Check the site's outbound link profile – an excessive number of irrelevant or low-quality outbound links suggests a link farm or PBN-like behaviour, which will dilute the value of your placement and could be detrimental to your own site's SEO.
Consider these crucial points when judging publisher sites:
• Organic traffic: Is it substantial and trending upwards?
• Keyword relevance: Do top keywords align with your target audience?
• Content quality: Is it original, informative, and engaging?
• Outbound link profile: Are links relevant and not excessive?
